Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Perry

Ceist:

211 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) will be transferred to Sligo in view of the fact that she is from the area and has been on the transfer list; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22300/99]

A transfer to a provincial location such as Sligo is arranged in accordance with an agreement with the staff side at general council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Civil Service. An officer's placing on the transfer list for a particular location is fixed in order of date of receipt of the application in the Department concerned.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in which the individual concerned is employed, operates a system whereby it requires officers who are appointed to serve in its Wexford office to agree to serve for three years before they will be released for transfer. When that three year period has been completed and the officer's place on the transfer list has been reached, the officer concerned will then be considered for a transfer.
