Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

213 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in responding to a query on stamp duty from a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22316/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, arising from an application made under the young trained farmers relief scheme, for a refund of an appropriate amount of stamp duty previously paid on the transfer in April 1998, of certain lands, the commissioners have approved the payment of a refund.

The repayment will be made after the commissioners have received the instrument transferring the lands in question from the Land Registry.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

214 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that an application for the repayment of tax made by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is dealt with; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22411/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has dealt with the taxpayer's application and has calculated that he is due a refund of £981.49. A balancing statement was sent to the taxpayer on 8 November and a cheque for £981.49 is being issued.
