Waiting list figures are compiled by my Department on a quarterly basis. The most recent period in respect of which figures are being compiled is that for the quarter July-September 1999 and these will be available shortly.
In order to measure the impact of the nurses' strike on the waiting lists, health agencies have been asked to furnish details of figures for October 1999 and these are awaited. In the circumstances, the Deputy will appreciate that it is not possible for me, at this time, to give an accurate account of the impact of the nurses' strike on waiting lists.
