Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Legal Aid Service.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

359 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to provide the services of free legal aid to Dingle, County Kerry, once a month; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22209/99]

The need for, and location of, new law centres is continually kept under review by the Legal Aid Board. I understand from the board that they currently operate a full time law centre in Tralee. Moreover, a part-time centre operates in Killarney each Friday morning from the community services office and is staffed from the Tralee law centre.

I have no proposal before me at this time for the establishment of a part-time law centre in Dingle but I can assure the Deputy that if the board were to make such a proposal, I would be as positive as possible in my response to it.
