Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

387 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received an application for funding through the capital grant fund recreational facilities scheme from a community organisation (details supplied) in County Westmeath; if he will ensure that the necessary funding is provided to ensure that this facility can proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22605/99]

An application for funding under the 1999 sports capital programme was received from the organisation in question. Approximately 1,900 applications were received under the programme and following assessment, grants were allocated to 406 projects throughout the country in July last. However, this organisation was one of the unsuccessful applicants.

I will be advertising details of the programme for 2000 before year end and it will then be open to the organisation to re-apply for funding, if it so wishes.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

388 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the plans, if any, he has to insist in the development of facilities for Shamrock Rovers FC in Tallaght, County Dublin, in view of the huge interest in sport which this club has generated over many years. [22633/99]
