Vol. 510 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

391 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has received a request for funding to increase the height of the perimeter wall at Ben Edair Road from St. Gabriel's school, Dublin 9; and, if so, his response to this request. [22220/99]

My Department does not appear to have received a recent application for funding from St. Gabriel's school to increase the height of the perimeter wall at Ben Edair Road. Grant aid was previously sanctioned by my Department in August 1997 towards the cost of raising the boundary wall at the school.

John Perry

Ceist:

392 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science the funds available to Kilmactranny national school, County Sligo, to acquire additional grounds at the school for use as a playground; the process the school management must follow to have the ground inspected to enable it to acquire the grounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22278/99]

An application has been received from the manager of Kilmactranny national school for grant aid towards various works to the school. My Department's planning and building unit is currently assessing the future accommodation requirements of the school.

My Department does not appear to have a specific request from the school for additional grounds. However, I should point out that my Department does not grant aid the purchase of land solely for the purpose of extending the play area of a school.
