On 12 February 1999 my Department received from Waterford County Council an application for a licence under the Foreshore Act to allow for the development of the Dungarvan sewerage works. The application, which included a comprehensive environmental impact statement, was considered by my Department. In order to allow for public consultation Waterford County Council was requested on 13 August, pursuant to the Foreshore (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 1990, to advertise the works in a local newspaper. The works were advertised in the Dungarvan Leader on 10 September.
The environmental impact statement, together with a copy of all plans and drawings, were made available for inspection at the offices of the applicant and at Dungarvan Garda station. The public was given one month from the date of publication to make submissions or objections to me on the proposed works. No such submissions or objections were received. On 27 October Waterford County Council forwarded proof that documents had been so displayed.
My Department is currently compiling a report for me on the proposals. I expect to be able to communicate my decision to Waterford County Council in the near future.
