Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

109 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in the payment of 1998 area aid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [23047/99]

Extensification premium is paid on all animals paid under the suckler cow and special beef premium schemes if the stocking density on the holding is less than 1.4 livestock units per hectare.

The stocking density for the person named is calculated as follows and is based on the number of animals applied on.

Suckler Cow Premium Scheme

Ewe Premium Scheme

Special Beef Premium Scheme

Total Livestock Units

16.0

The person named declared 11.38 hectares on her 1998 area aid application. The stocking density on the holding is calculated by dividing the total livestock units by the hectares – 16/11.38 – giving a stocking density of 1.4 LUs/hectare. As the stocking density on the holding is not less than 1.4 LUs/hectare the person named has no entitlement to 1998 extensification premium.
