Ceist:

307 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has received from Kildare County Council for the provision of a library, civic offices and Garda station in Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare; the extent of the anticipated development proposals for the site; the position in respect of the plans; if he will expedite the project; the alternatives, if any, being considered; if so, the context in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Approval to stage 2, detailed cost and design, for the development of a branch library in Leixlip, County Kildare issued to Kildare County Council from my Department on 18 November 1999.

It is now a matter for the council to seek tenders in respect of the project. The provision of civic offices and of a Garda station are matters for the local authority and the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, respectively.
