Ceist:

380 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has satisfied himself that the conduct of governing body meetings and appointments to institutes of technology in line with the reform of the Regional Technical Colleges (Amendment) Act, 1994. [26707/99]

Section 13 of the Second Schedule of the Regional Technical Colleges Act, 1992, states that "Subject to the provisions of this Act a governing body shall regulate, by standing orders or otherwise, its procedure and business". I have, therefore, no direct involvement in how governing body meetings are conducted.

In relation to appointments to the governing bodies of the institutes of technology, I am satisfied that they are in accordance with the terms of the Regional Technical Colleges (Amendment) Act, 1994.
