Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rail Network.

John Bruton

Ceist:

199 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has reviewed the feasibility study on the proposal to re-open the Dublin to Navan railway line in view of the fact it was due to be completed by the end of 1999; if she will publish the report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1355/00]

In March last year the Government approved the carrying out by CIE of a costing and feasibility study of a number of options for the longer term development of the suburban rail network.

These options included the possibility of developing a new inland rail link to Navan.

The study subsequently commissioned by CIE is nearing completion. I expect the consultants' report to be finalised in the next couple of weeks. I understand from CIE that the final report will be published.
