Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Light Rail Project.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

211 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the alternative routes, if any, being considered in view of the inspector's report regarding the proposed Luas routes at Connolly Station, Dublin 1, in order to meet the requirements of the inspector and of the local residents; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1927/00]

A public inquiry was held in December by Judge Sean O'Leary into CIE's application for a light rail service between Abbey Street and Connolly Station. The report of the inspector's findings was submitted to me on 11 January 2000.

I am at present examining the report and other documentation as specified in the Transport (Dublin Light Rail) Act, 1996, including submissions made directly to me in relation to the application. Having considered all of these matters, I will make a decision on the CIE application in the coming weeks.
