Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Property.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

214 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the results of his visit to investigate the application by Gaelscoil Chill Dara, Curragh, County Kildare, to the Department of Defence for an access for its proposed school at Lumville, Curragh, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1666/00]

The position is that as indicated to the House on 5 December 1999, I visited the site of the proposed school at Lumville, Curragh, County Kildare on 21 December 1999. I met both political representatives and representatives of the board of management of Gaelscoil Chill Dara, I examined the site carefully and took on board the various comments and suggestions proposed during the visit. I am carefully considering the points raised including the views of the Department of Education and Science and I hope to be in a position to arrive at a decision soon.

Ceist:

215 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence if the criteria laid down for the sale of the Orchard park housing estate at the Curragh, County Kildare, is similar to that adopted by Kildare County Council in relation to its tenant purchase scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1667/00]

The houses at Orchard Park will be sold to the occupants under terms similar to the 1995 local authority tenant purchase scheme. The discounts being applied are identical – 3% per year of occupancy subject to a maximum of 30% plus £3,000.
