The number of cases of meningitis notified to my Department by the health boards in each of the years 1996 to 1999 is as follows:

The figures for 1997 and 1998 have recently been revised to include two and four cases respectively which were late notifications to my Department. The figures for 1999 are provisional pending receipt of final information from the health boards in respect of the fourth quarter of the year.
