759 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if the case of persons (details supplied) involved with community development will be examined with a view to ensuring that the registration and certification fee being requested by an NUI college is waived or paid for by his Department in view of the fact it is prohibitive in the circumstances. From initial inquiries made I understand that this course, the Diploma in Continuing Education and Community Development, forms part of the self-financed activities of the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and is not funded by the Higher Education Authority. My officials are awaiting further information from the authority in relation to the arrangements concerning the course. On receipt of this information, I will arrange for a more detailed reply to issue to the Deputy.
