212 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to improve or refurbish a number of Garda stations in County Kildare in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2840/00]
As part of the ongoing Garda building maintenance programme the following works are due to be completed in 2000.
Two official houses at Newbridge station and one at Kilcullen will be refurbished.
Work will be carried out to the cells at Kildare Garda station and the lighting system will be rewired. The exterior and the interior of the station will be painted.
Naas and Ballytore Garda stations will be painted both externally and internally.
Finally, it is proposed to build a Garda station in Leixlip and to this end the Office of Public Works is seeking a suitable site.
