Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Irish Medical Organisation.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

257 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has extended the interim contract between his Department and the IMO for a further six months until July 2000; and the reason, in spite of the contract being entered into on 1 July 1999, no talks have taken place between the IMO and his Department since then on specialist registrar conditions. [3080/00]

Discussions between the Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers Agency are continuing with regard to revising the non consultant hospital doctor contract. Within the context of these discussions a new contract for specialist registrars will be drawn up.
