Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

325 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed Ballyshannon water scheme. [2990/00]

Contract documents for this scheme were submitted to my Department in 1987 but have not been approved.

The scheme is second on the list of projects submitted by Donegal County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment programme for 2000 and future years under the national development plan.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

326 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has received from south Tipperary County Council in regard to water schemes; the funding, if any, available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3016/00]

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

327 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the funding made available to south Tipperary County Council for sewerage schemes; the location for these schemes; the proposals, if any, received for additional sewerage schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3018/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 326 and 327 together.

Details of water and sewerage schemes in south Tipperary which have been included in my Department's water services investment programme and details of allocations to the council under the rural water programme are contained in the Department's water services annual report for 1999, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library.

I am arranging to forward to the Deputy a copy of the list of projects submitted by South Tipperary County Council in response to the Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water ser vices investment programmes for 2000 and future years under the national development plan.
