Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Liquor Licensing Laws.

Deirdre Clune

Ceist:

382 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals, if any, he has to amend legislation on the sale of alcohol in eating establishments; if his attention has been drawn to the proposals of the Restaurants Association of Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3009/00]

The Intoxicating Liquor Bill, which is in the course of being drafted for publication in this session, takes into account the report of the Oireachtas committee on liquor licensing, the report of the Competition Authority and submissions received from the public and interest groups, including the restaurant sector. The provisions in the Bill in relation to extension of licensing hours, changes in the licensing system, and a range of other matters will have implications for the restaurant sector. The full details will be announced by way of publication of the Bill.
