Vol. 514 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water Quality.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

245 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the moneys, if any, he is making available for upgrading to the promoters of group water schemes in County Mayo in 2000 in order to have the quality of water comply with best standards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3929/00]

I expect to announce details of the block grant allocations to county councils under the devolved rural water programme, which includes group water schemes, within the next few weeks.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

246 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of group water schemes in County Mayo which do not conform to water quality standards arising from the recent Environmental Protection Agency report on the quality of drinking water in rural Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3930/00]

The information requested is set out in the 1998 EPA report, The Quality of Drinking Water in Ireland, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library.
