257 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of driving test applications in County Kerry in 1998 and 1999; the number of appli cations on the waiting list; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4198/00]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy):

The numbers of driving test applications in County Kerry in 1998 and 1999 were 5,488 and 5,707 respectively. Some 3,414 applicants are awaiting tests in County Kerry. Of these, approximately 1,119 have been given test appointments while a further 560 have indicated that they are not available to be tested.
