48 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if Iarnrod Éireann has reported to her on its independent appraisal of the carrying capacity of its rolling stock; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4128/00]
I understand that Iarnród Éireann has commissioned Halcrow Transmark to carry out an independent appraisal of the carrying capacity of its rolling stock. I am informed that the study has commenced and will be completed by end March 2000. The findings of the study will be made known both to myself and to the railway inspecting officer. Until I have received the study I will not be in a position to make any comment.
