Vol. 514 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin and Monaghan Bombings.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

87 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Taoiseach the remuneration and facilities which will be made available to the chairman of the inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings. [4502/00]

The chairman of the inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings has been given accommodation of two rooms in Government Buildings which are equipped with the usual office facilities including telephone, fax, etc.

He currently has the assistance of two staff – a legal assistant and an executive officer. This is subject to review when Mr. Hamilton has completed an initial assessment of the dimensions of his task.

The former Chief Justice will be paid a monthly rate of £4,720 which is in accordance with Department of Finance rules governing remuneration of persons undertaking commissions who are in receipt of pensions paid from public funds.
