164 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funding for the Meningitis Research Foundation in view of the alarming increase in the number of meningitis cases; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4749/00]
In 1997 my Department provided funding to the Meningitis Research Foundation, by means of a grant from national lottery funds, to cover the cost of an information and education officer for a three-year period.
At a recent meeting my Department indicated to the foundation that the provision of further such funding, in respect of another project, would be considered should the foundation make an application in this regard.
