217 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the consultancies, work groups and specialist groups employed for carrying out studies in his Department; when these groups were established; when their reports are expected and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information requested by the Deputy in relation to the consultancies, work groups and specialist groups currently employed by my Department to carry out studies is set out in the following table.

A consultation group – representative of ESRI, IBEC, the EPA Earthwatch, UCD, the Departments of the Environment and Local Government, Finance, Enterprise Trade and Employment, Public Enterprise and Agriculture Food and Rural Development – was established to examine and advise the Minister for the Environment and Local Government on the options for greenhouse gas emissions trading, both domestically and in the context of developing international and EU requirements, and to offer advice on the Irish position on international trading as required. The aim of the study is to provide a detailed inventory of water resources and to identify the extent of water loss in each system, the existing demand/supply situation and the most appropriate way of providing any additional capital required. |
