Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - Waste Management.

Ceist:

219 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Kerbside has effectively ceased collections since December 1999; the steps, if any, he will take to immediately provide a substitute service and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5885/00]

Ceist:

255 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the measures, if any, he has taken to address the serious problems associated with Kerbside's recycling service in the greater Dublin area in view of his campaign to encourage recycling of waste material and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6242/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 219 and 255 together.

I have no direct function in relation to the company concerned or its operations.

However, I am monitoring ongoing developments and am aware of proposals on the part of the Dublin local authorities to deal with current problems in the wider context of an ambitious recycling initiative, to be introduced in accordance with the waste management plan for the Dublin region.
