178 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department is in receipt of an application for funding from Kilkenny Women's Refuge Project; when a decision will be made; and if he will expedite the application in view of the importance of the project and give a positive reply. [6702/00]
The position is that the funding of refuge centres is a matter for the health boards and in this particular instance, the South Eastern Health Board. Consequently, it would be appropriate for the project to approach the South Eastern Health Board in this regard. The project has applied separately to my Department for lottery funding and this application is currently being considered in the context of the lottery funding available to me.
