Ceist:

116 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the time schedule for applicants of national lottery capital grants to be advised of the success or otherwise of their application; the total moneys to be allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7164/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 112 and 116 together.

The sports capital programme for 2000 was advertised in early December 1999 with a closing date of 11 February 2000 for the receipt of completed applications. Over 1,600 applications were received of which approximately 240 were from the Dublin area. Initial processing of these has commenced and a letter of acknowledgement will issue to each applicant from my Department within the next week.
Applications received under the programme will be evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form and I hope to be in a position to announce grant allocations up to a maximum value of £20 million by June 2000. All applicants will be advised the success or otherwise of their application at that stage.
