Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

209 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health and Children the up to date report on the re-development and expansion of James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15; and when the work will be completed. [8584/00]

I wish to advise the Deputy that tenders have recently been sought in relation to the redevelopment of James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, and it is anticipated that work will commence on this project in early summer.

As the Deputy may be aware the timing of the completion of planning and tendering and the commencement and completion of construction for the development will depend on several variable factors which are difficult to assess accurately in advance and it is not possible for me therefore to give a precise timetable for the project. However, the estimated date for completion, at this point, is late 2002.
