Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Disability Authority.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

240 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason senior posts in the National Disability Authority were not advertised and open to competition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8523/00]

The mainstreaming of services for people with disabilities and the establishment of the new National Disability Authority and Comhairle will involve the transfer of staff at all levels from the National Rehabilitation Board and the National Social Service Board to the two new organisations and to existing State bodies, in particular FÁS and the health boards. Staff at senior level who are due for transfer will be deployed to the NDA as well as to other receiving organisations. Following the redeployment and the establishment of the new organisations it is expected that any vacancies will be filled in accordance with the individual requirements of the post and the needs of the new organisations.
