Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cycling Promotion.

Ceist:

254 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the steps, if any, his Department has taken to encourage members of staff to cycle to work; and if he will consider a cycling allowance to promote cycling. [8636/00]

In my Department, parking facilities for bicycles have been made available to members of staff who wish to cycle to work. The provision of an allowance to promote cycling to work would be a matter for consideration in the broader economic and social context, rather than by individual Departments.
