Vol. 516 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

320 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will fund the full cost of the provision of a sewerage scheme at Croagh village in view of the fact tenders received by Limerick County Council were in the region of £700,000 and the original estimate was £230,000; if he will take account of the urgent need for a sewerage scheme in this village; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8756/00]

This scheme was processed up to tender stage by Limerick County Council under the devolved small scheme programme for projects costing less than £250,000. In light of actual tender costs the council has now included it, in tenth place, on the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted to my Department for consideration under the main water services investment programme in response to the Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment programmes for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006.
