Vol. 517 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rail Safety.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

114 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has satisfied herself that all required safety standards are met on the western commuter rail route with particular reference to line and station facilities at Kilcock, Maynooth, Louisa Bridge and Confey, County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9333/00]

I have been advised by Iarnród Éireann that all the required safety standards are being met on the western commuter route to Kilcock. Most of the trackwork has been replaced from Connolly station to Kilcock and I understand from the company that the remainder of the upgrading work, including the doubling of the line from Clonsilla to Maynooth, and new platforms and stations, will be completed this year.
