127 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs to clarify his recent statement regarding proposed changes to give credits to women who gave up work to look after children; if the credits will be back dated to 1953; if there will be a maximum number of years involved; if it will apply for caring for children up to 15 or 18; if the credits will rank in full with existing contributions or can be added to them; when a formal announcement will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I would refer the Deputy to my detailed reply to Question No. 464 of 21 March last which sets out the position in relation to this matter. I assure the Deputy that the review of the existing homemaker arrangements to be undertaken by my Department later this year, will consider the issues raised in his question.
