132 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position in relation to the payments to be made to the Border pig producers who were affected by the fire at a processing plant (details supplied) in June 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9850/00]

Payments to pig producers in the Border regions, who were successful under the aid scheme which I introduced earlier this year, will commence this week.

There are, however, still a number of applicants who have not sent in all of the required documentation. They have been contacted and urged to forward this as soon as possible, so that their applications can be assessed, and if appropriate, payments issued.
