Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Immigration Procedures.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

251 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will investigate the rigorous immigration procedures which are fuelling the manpower crisis among junior hospital doctors resulting in non-EU doctors, who are obtaining jobs in Irish hospitals, being prevented from bringing their spouses and families into this country and, in some cases, being told that they have to wait one year before they can apply for visas for their spouses and families. [9784/00]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 105 of 22 March 2000 which sets out my Department's policy in respect of the admission of persons who require a visa and who are family members of persons legally employed in the State. This policy is under review.
