Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

317 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps, if any, he will take to appoint a resource teacher for a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath in September 2000; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this school was sanctioned to receive a quarter post home-school liaison teacher for September 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9831/00]

I have requested my Department's inspectorate to investigate and report on the allocation of a resource teacher to the school referred to by the Deputy for September 2000. As soon as the inspectorate's report is received and con sidered, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.

The school in question was included in the extension to the home-school-community-liaison scheme in September 1999 through the allocation of a part-time home-school-community-liaison post, .25, to the school. Arrangements concerning the filling of such part-time posts have now been finalised by my Department and sanction has issued to the school in question to proceed with the employment of a part-time home-school-community liaison co-ordinator.
