Description of study: This study was commissioned to assess the impact of measures taken in relation to supply, demand and cost of housing and housing land, to evaluate affordability, particularly for first-time purchasers, and to examine developments in the private rented market.

Regarding the recent appointment of the consultants in March 2000 to undertake a further general review of housing market developments, I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 30 of 6 April 2000. The cost of this study is expected to be in the region of £50,000.
