349 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, made on the provision and acquisition of a site for the north Mayo national park interpretative centre; the up-to-date position regarding this matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In answer to recent parliamentary questions on this issue, I stated that my Department had identified six possible sites for the proposed visitor centre. Following a preliminary investigation, three of these sites were considered unsuitable. The owners, or their representatives, of the remaining three sites have been approached with a view to the possible acquisition of one of them. When their responses are received further consideration will be given to the matter.
