Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Strength.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

367 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to make available more resources to increase the Garda numbers in locations (details supplied) in view of the fact that all these areas are growing in population and are being targeted by criminal elements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10711/00]

The detailed allocation of Garda personnel to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the personnel strengths – all ranks – of the Garda stations referred to in the details supplied is 35, 10, 4, 48 and 41 respectively. When additional personnel next become available for allocation, the needs of the Garda stations referred to in the details supplied will be considered in the overall context of other Garda stations throughout the country.
