Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Perry

Ceist:

395 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 300 of 7 December 1999 with regard to the amalgamation of Banada secondary school and the Marist convent, Tubbercurry, County Sligo, he will report on the measures he has in place to commence the building of this new school; the progress made in securing the site; if a final agreement has been drawn up; when the development will commence; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that, due to lack of a firm agreement, the moneys allocated will be lost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10453/00]

Minister for Education and Science
(Dr. Woods): I am pleased to inform that Deputy that agreement has been reached in principle for the acquisition of a suitable site for the construction of a new community school in Tubbercurry. The Deputy will be aware that it is intended to build the new school as part of the public private partnership initiative.
