Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Seán Power

Ceist:

444 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has received an application for a new school from Scoil Bhríde, Nurney, County Kildare; if he will approve the application as quickly as possible in view of the fact that 50% of the classes are operating from prefabs and the increasing development in the area is placing increased pressure for places in the school. [10885/00]

An application for a new school to replace the existing school in Nurney is being processed by my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible having regard to the large volume of primary school building projects being handled at present. The school authorities have submitted details relating to the site for the new school and this aspect of the application is also being dealt with.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

445 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the commitment to build a new school (details provided); if his Department is still committed to this project; and, if so, the progress made on the issue since July 1999. [10886/00]

An application from the school in question is being dealt with as quickly as possible by my Department having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within my Department.
