Vol. 518 No. 4

Written Answers. - Waste Management.

Pádraic McCormack

Ceist:

207 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to grant aid the establishment of a manufacturing facility to produce biodegradable plastic bags which are currently being imported from the Far East; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12071/00]

I have no proposals to grant aid such a facility. Grant assistance is available from enterprise organisations for proposed manufacturing facilities which fall within specific industrial sectors. Such aid is administered by IDA Ireland in the case of overseas applicants, Enterprise Ireland in the case of indigenous applicants and Shannon Development in the case of applicants for their region.
