My Department has no current public contracts with the company mentioned by the Deputy.

135 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will list any public contracts awarded by his Department to a company (details supplied); the full list of such contracts; the purpose for which they were awarded; if the tax clearance requirements for public contracts were complied with in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Public contracts entered into by my Department with the company mentioned by the Deputy are set out as follows. The provision of professional strategic communications advice with regard to the hepatitis C controversy and publication of the report of the tribunal of inquiry into the Blood Transfusion Service Board together with advice on cancer strategy. This work, at a cost of £25,410 inclusive of VAT, commenced on 3 March 1997 and was completed on 27 March 1997, and the provision of professional advice with regard to ongoing industrial relations and certain matters arising in relation to hepatitis C. This work, at a cost of £9,075 inclusive of VAT, commenced on 4 April 1997 and was completed on 18 May 1997. Tax clearance requirements were complied with in each case.

Our accounting records also show a payment to the value of £1,534.50 on 10 November 1989 to the company mentioned by the Deputy.
