Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Code.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

240 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if Irish taxpayers in receipt of dividends from UK companies may offset the tax deducted from their dividends by the UK authorities against their tax liability in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12523/00]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that dividends paid by a UK company to an Irish resident taxpayer are not subject to any taxation in the United Kingdom. Accordingly, no tax is deducted in the UK and there is no need to make any credit against Irish tax.
