The total teacher allocation to second level schools in the current school year is of the order of 23,720 wholetime teacher equivalents.
The Deputy will be aware that I am providing an additional 1,000 teaching posts at second level in the 2000/01 school year. These extra posts are made available under the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.
