Vol. 519 No. 4

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

95 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the Eastern Regional Health Authority has made no arrangements to provide for an orthodontist in Ballinteer Health Centre to replace a person (details supplied) who left in September 1999; the reason a person (details supplied) in County Dublin has had orthodontic treatment terminated in mid-course; the number of children similarly affected; and the action he will take to require that an orthodontist attend at Ballinteer Health Centre to provide children with treatment. [13987/00]

The provision of orthodontic services to eligible persons in County Dublin is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have asked the regional chief executive of that health authority to investigate the position in relation to the issues raised by the Deputy and reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
