Ceist:

221 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the current situation regarding a school (details supplied) in Dublin 1 in view of the fact that the second-level students at a college are now situated at a college (details supplied) and the only occupants of this school are the long-term unemployed VTOS students and both part-time teachers and the students are unsure regarding their future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The new school referred to by the Deputy was opened recently to replace second level accommodation in two city of Dublin vocational education committee schools, one of which was also referred to by the Deputy.

The VEC is examining in consultation with the Department how the building that houses the VTOS students at present should best be utilised in the future in the light of the area's overall educational needs. All relevant parties will be kept informed of developments by the committee.
