165 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the number of injury claims paid or settled by her Department in the case of the general public, officials and general workers arising from accidents or personal injuries on historical sites in the care of the State over the past five years. [15631/00]

The table below sets out the information requested by the Deputy.

Dúchas, the heritage service, came under the aegis of my Department on 13 March 1996. Payments and settlements made prior to that date were the responsibility of the Commissioners of Public Works and, consequently, my Department has no record of payments or settlements made prior to 13 March 1996.
