142 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make a statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the suspension of a senior planning officer of Donegal County Council (details supplied). [15781/00]
In accordance with Article 12 of the Local Government (Officers) Regulations, 1983, I was advised in June 1999, that an officer had been suspended by Donegal County Council in connection with possible breaches of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1976. An application has since been made for my consent to the removal from office of the officer concerned and I will make my decision on that application when I have concluded my examination of the submissions of both parties. The officer remains suspended pending my decision.
